The CCC's Goals, Strategies, & Activities

page graphicCCC’s goals and strategies include the priorities of applied scholarship and research, professional development and community capacity building. These goals and strategies provide direction and focus for the activities of the center.

1. GOAL: Applied Scholarship & Research

CCC supports applied scholarship, collaborative research and dissemination of knowledge regarding the status, needs and strengths of the community.

STRATEGIES

  • Conduct collaborative research that informs, supports and strengthens the community.
  • Work collaboratively with public and private agencies in identifying community needs, resources, funding streams, services and results.
  • Partner with complementary CSUF departments, centers and other relevant external educational institutions to provide necessary research data.

ACTIVITIES

  1. Annual Report on the Conditions of Children in Orange County.
  2. Conducted a needs assessment for PHFE Management Solutions on the needs of the non-profit community for the San Gabriel Valley.
    1. The purpose of the assessment was to identify the training and technical assistant needs of the non-profit community in order to provide support and capacity building to the non-profit community.
  3. Developed “¡CONECTATE!” Family Life Center through a grant from the Office of Minority Health for a Family and Community Violence Prevention Program

2. GOAL: Professional Development

CCC provides high quality learning opportunities for human services, community health and education professionals.

STRATEGIES

  • Increase the number of degreed and certificated professionals in the helping fields of Human Services.
  • Assist professionals and paraprofessionals in further enriching their job-specific skills, knowledge and inter-professional competencies.
  • Participate and collaborate with community leaders to provide education and training opportunities that are developmentally, culturally and professionally appropriate
  • Provide internship experiences to students

ACTIVITIES

  1. Since 2007, CCC has co-hosted the annual Community Forum on the Conditions of Children in Orange County
  2. Conducted an annual training for international students from Japan on the practice of social welfare and community-based health promotion in the United States. The students from Osaka Jikei College have participated in the training and site visits since 2002.
  3. 3. Conducted a community assessment of non-profit organizations in the San Gabriel Valley (with PHFE Management Solutions)

3. GOAL: Community Capacity Building

CCC assists the capacity building of community resources with training and technical assistance for organizations serving children, families and communities.

STRATEGIES

  • Provide training technical assistance to community-based organizations and public agencies in the development and implementation of promising practices.
  • Assist in the development and use of outcomes to measure the effectiveness of programs and service delivery strategies.
  • Serve as a central information resource repository for government agencies, community-based organizations and policy leaders.

ACTIVITIES

  1. Provides training in the community to non-profit organizations on the topics of program evaluation, data management, grant writing, business plan development and board development.
  2. Conducted a Strategic Planning Retreat for the Neighborhood Resource Centers of the Fresno County Department of Human Services and Technical assistance workshops for Strategies of Children’s Bureau of Southern California.
  3. Conducted the Early Care and Education Needs Assessment and The Early Care and Education Best Practices projects in order to assist the development of public policy and advocacy on behalf of young children and their families in Orange County.
  4. Developed and offered Early Care and Education Leadership Certificate (with United Way)
  5. Developed and offered Infant Mental Health Certificate (with Orange County Health Care Agency)
