PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENTS FOR NON-MAJOR GRADUATE APPLICANTS
In addition to meeting the Admissions Requirements, applicants who have not completed an undergraduate major in Kinesiology or equivalent B.S. degree (i.e., non-major applicants) must complete the prescribed set of undergraduate prerequisite courses* with an overall GPA of 3.2 prior to consideration for the Master’s Degree Program in Kinesiology.
For all non-major applicants we require evidence of the following:
- 1 undergraduate course in Human Anatomy & Physiology - this can be a lower division course).
- 1 undergraduate course in fundamental concepts of statistics - this can be from any major, so if an undergraduate statistics course was taken at any point in an applicant’s undergrad experience, it could be applied here.
- 1 undergraduate upper division course in the area of study that the applicant plans to focus on (e.g., Exercise Physiology, Sociocultural and Philosophical Aspects of Human Movement, Gerokinesiology, Pedagogy, Sport and Performance Psychology, Biomechanics, Strength and Conditioning, and Motor Behavior). This course should be selected in consultation with faculty members from the applicant’s area of study.
*Please note that these courses are pre-requesites for admissions. Some graduate courses may still have other prerequisites.
These prerequisite courses do not need to be taken at CSUF. We will consider courses taken at other accredited institutions (including on-line courses) with coursework offered at the upper division level (for all requirements other than Human Anatomy and Physiology). If however an applicant wishes to take these pre-requisite courses at Fullerton, registration is available through the Extended Education program on our campus for this purpose.
