Application Procedures 

“The deadline for applications to the M.S. in Kinesiology graduate program is  January 31, 2025. All required materials must be included in your application by that deadline. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed until finalized.”

Basic Application Process

    • Complete the online application at Cal State Apply. Applicants must complete 4 “Quadrants” of information on Cal State Apply:
      • Personal Information – biographic, contact, citizenship and residency, race and ethnicity information, etc.
      • Academic History – identification of all colleges attended, transcripts, GPA reports.
      • Supporting Information –In 500 words or less, provide a personal statement* that addresses the following:
        • Describe your motivations for pursuing a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology
        • Describe your background and qualifications that make you a strong candidate for our program
        • Identify your main area of interest (Exercise Physiology, Sociocultural and Philosofical Aspects of Human Movement, Gerokinesiology, Pedagogy, Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology, Biomechanics, Strength and Conditioning, or Motor Behavior) and any particular topics you want to gain more knowledge and/or experience in.
        • Describe how the program at CSUF aligns with your future goals *Please note that this statement will be used to evaluate your writing ability.
      • Program Materials – resume/CV, letters of recommendation, completion of department-specific questions.
  • Request your college/university transcript(s) be submitted to the Office of Admissions and Records.
    • Submit one (1) official transcript from  each  college or university previously attended to:

      If previously accepted as an undergraduate at CSUF, only transcript from any school attended after acceptance is required. Students currently in graduate status at CSUF do not need to reapply; instead, submit a “Change of Objective” request form (available at LH-114) to Admissions and Records and complete steps below.

** Please note that students are evaluated and admitted only for the term in which they apply.  If a student is unable to begin their studies that term, they will need to reapply for a future term by submitting a new admission application.

I submitted my application via CSUMentor for a prior term and would like to reapply. Can I access my previously submitted information?

No. With the move from CSUMentor to Cal State Apply, you are not able to retrieve your previously submitted information. Please create a new username and password in Cal State Apply and complete a new application.

If I previously created a username and password in CSUMentor and did not apply, but did save my application information, can I access that previously saved information?

No. With the move from CSUMentor to Cal State Apply, you are not able to retrieve your previously stored application information. Please create a new username and password in Cal State Apply and complete a new application.
