Steps required to secure an internship. Steps and details are on “How to Find an Internship” page.

All Human Services majors are required to complete three internships (and minors, one) before graduation. Each internship requires an internship course plus 120 hours at an internship placement. Internships provide the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, build professional skills, and explore career paths that align with your goals.

Sequence:
HUSR 396 + First Internship Placement
HUSR 495 + Second Internship Placement
HUSR 496 + Third Internship Placement

In a 15-week semester, students typically complete 8–10 internship hours per week, plus course meetings and coursework. In an 8–10 week summer term, students should expect 12–15 internship hours per week, plus course meetings and coursework.

Since the internship course and internship hours are completed at the same time, students need to obtain an internship placement before the course begins—typically the semester prior. There are also prerequisites for transfer students and first time freshmen. How to Find an Internship outlines the steps and provides the necessary details and deadlines.
