The Department of Public Health (previously Health Science) aspires to prepare individuals and communities with the knowledge and skills to advance health and wellness and to instill a commitment to meet the public health challenges of the 21st century. The goals of the Department of Public Health are to:
The health science program offers a Bachelor of Science in Public Health (and Bachelor of Health Science, that is being phased out) where students can choose to focus on one of three areas: (1) general studies/health promotion and disease prevention,(2) global health, and (3) environmental and occupational health and safety. The program also a offers Minor in Health Science.
The Master of Public Health (MPH) degree offers specialized areas of study in (1) health promotion and disease prevention, (2) occupational and environmental health and safety, and (3) gerontological health. The MPH is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health.
