2-YEAR MSW PROGRAM (60-Units)

The two-year MSW program is administered by the Department of Social Work and delivered on CSU Fullerton’s main campus.

Students complete 60-semester units of coursework. Students enroll in 15 units of coursework each semester for 4 semesters. Each course in the MSW curriculum is 3 units. Students attend classes on 2 to 3 weekdays. Courses are primarily delivered in-person.

Each student completes two practicum placements: one in the first year and one in the second year. Each placement involves 525 hours of fieldwork. Students complete 16-20 hours of practicum each week between the months of August and May. Field hours are completed on weekdays opposite of the student’s class schedule.

 

 

3-YEAR MSW PROGRAM (60-Units)

The three-year MSW program is administered through University Extension, and is delivered at CSUF's main campus. 

Students complete 60-semester units of coursework. Students enroll in 6-9 units of coursework each semester for 6 semesters, plus coursework over 2 consecutive summers. Students attend class on 2 to 3 weekday evenings. Courses are delivered using in-person and online hybrid modalities.

Each student completes two practicum placements: one in the second year and one in the third year. Each placement involves 525 hours of fieldwork. Students complete 16-20 hours of field placement each week between the months of August and May. Field hours are completed during agency hours, typically two days during the normal work week.

The MSW three-Year program is subject to all the fee and registration requirements of University

ONE-YEAR ADVANCED STANDING
MSW PROGRAM (30-Units)

The one-year advance standing MSW program is administered by the Department of Social Work and delivered on CSU Fullerton’s main campus.

Students complete 30 units of advanced course work; 15 units for Fall and Spring semester. Students attend classes on 2 to 3 weekdays. Courses are primarily delivered in-person.

Each student completes one practicum placement. The practicum placement involves 525 hours of fieldwork. Students complete 16-20 hours of practicum each week between the

months of August and May. Field hours are completed on weekdays opposite of the student’s class schedule.

Special Programs within the MSW Program

In the advanced practice curriculum, students are afforded the opportunity to take 4 elective courses. These electives allow students to participate in a number of program options, including the Bienestar Social Work with Latinx Certificate program, Pupil Personnel Services Credential program, and our Global Service Learning program.
