Summer Training

 

Leader's Training Course(LTC) is a four weeksof intense classroom and field training held in the summerLTC paintball at Fort Knox, KY. This course is an accelerated version of the twoyears of leadership development training Cadets receive in the Basic Course. By transforming yourself through this rigorous training, you will qualify for enrollment in the Army ROTC Advanced Course on campus-provided you have two years of college remaining (undergraduate or graduate). Once you successfully complete LTC and agree to contract and enter the Advanced Course, you may also qualify to receive a $5,000 bonus.

Warrior ForgeLeader Development & Assessment Course. Every Army ROTC Cadet who enters into the Advanced Course attends the Leader Development and Assessment Course. It's a five-week summer course to evaluate and train all Army ROTC Cadets. This course normally takes place between your junior and senior years of college, and is conducted at Fort Lewis, Washington.

Airborne School is a unique experience requiring special dedication and a desire to be challenged mentally and physicallyAirbourne School. This three-week course, also known as Basic Airborne Course, teaches Soldiers the techniques involved in parachuting from airplanes and landing safely. The final test includes a non-assisted jump. The purpose of theBAC is to qualify the volunteer in the use of the parachute as a means of combat deployment and to develop leadership, self-confidence, and an aggressive spirit through mental and physical conditioning.

Air Assault school. Conducted at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, is two weeks of mental and physical challenges. This school is designed to teach air assault skills and procedures, improve basic leadership skills, instill the Air Assault spirit and award the Air Assault Badge.

Mountain Warfare School is a two-week course taught by the Vermont National Guard at Ethan Allen FiringMountain Warfare Range in Jericho, Vermont. Both a summer and a winter phase are offered. The training is designed to make you an expert in mountain operations. Mountain Warfare School is both physically and mentally demanding. Training is non-stop, 15 hours per day, for 14 days. If you can carry a 65-pound rucksack up to five miles per day in mountainous terrain and are competent with both day and night land navigation you may have what it takes to complete this intense training.

Northern Warfare School is a two-week course, taught at the U.S. Army Northern Warfare Training Center, Fort Greely, Alaska. It teaches students survival techniques in northern climates, as well as basic skills of Northern Warfaremilitary mountaineering. Subjects include rock and ice climbing, cold weather survival, rappelling and inland waterway operations. Cadets attending Northern Warfare School must be graduates of LDAC. Students maintain their normal daily schedule as they develop their leadership and military skills in the classroom and in the field with the Army ROTC.

Robin Sage is a summer Special Forces training program conducted at the US Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center at Ft. Bragg, N.C. Its purpose is a culminating training exercise for soldiers undergoing Special Forces training. ROTC Cadets act as insurgent members of a growing resistance force in the fictional country of Pineland. They will be assigned to one of 15 "G" bands consisting of 3-4 cadets, approximately 15-20 other regular Army soldiers, and 1 "G" chief. The "G" band will conduct link-up operations with he Special Forces Student ODA's, receive specific training and begin conducting combat and sustainment operations. This will all be conducted in a non-permissive UW environment.Robin Sage

This is a great opportunity for senior ROTC Cadets to learn and grow as potential leaders. Subjects taught to and executed by the "G's" will consist of, but will not be limited to the following:

1. Troop leading procedures
2. Mission planning
3. Small unit tactics: (Raids, ambushes, recons)
4. Air operations
5. Basic field craft: (survival, expedient navigation, etc..)
6. Demolitions
7. Medical skills
8. Communications
9. Weapons
10. Common skill tasks

Nurse Summer Training Program is a paid three-to-four week clinical elective for Army ROTC nurse cadets. Attendance is voluntary. This elective is conducted at Army hospitals in the United States, Germany Nurseand Korea. While you follow the same duty schedule as your preceptor, you could receive training in such areas as patient assessment, planning of patient care, nutrition maintenance and feeding techniques, range of motion and mobility, medication administration, emergency procedures, intravenous (IV) therapy, and other special procedures and techniques.

Internship at Slovakia is awarded to MSIII cadets who want the chance to participate in the CulturaInternshipl Immersion Internship Program in Bratislava, Slovakia.  There are 14 males and one female cadet participating in the program.  The purpose of the Internship is to train with the Slovak cadets from their Military Academy of Defense (similar to our West Point).  Cadets will learned a little of the language--enough to understand what is going on, while training with Slovak cadets in formations, tactics and hand signals.
