“Banner on the Moon” follows Health Science professor Cindy Abbott’s extraordinary journey to the top of Mount Everest and the finish line of Alaska’s 1,000-mile Iditarod race — while battling a rare and life-threatening illness.  She’s accompanied by a special banner throughout her expedition as part of her quest to raise awareness for the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD).

After the screening, OC Register columnist David Whiting will moderate a panel and Q&A with Abbott and her husband, Larry Abbott. Funds raised at the screening will benefit HHD’s Inspiration Award, which recognizes faculty or students who persevere in spite of significant obstacles.
