Non-Major Prerequisites

PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENTS FOR NON-MAJOR GRADUATE APPLICANTS

Applicants who have not completed an undergraduate major in Kinesiology (or equivalent B.S. degree) must complete a prescribed set of undergraduate prerequisite courses with an overall GPA of 3.2 prior to consideration for the Master’s Degree Program in Kinesiology.

For all non-major applicants we require evidence of the following:

  • 1 class in Human Anatomy & Physiology (this can be a lower division course).
  • 1 class in Measurement and Statistics - this can be from any major, so if an undergraduate statistics course was taken at any point in an applicant’s undergrad experience, it can be applied here.
  • Three (3) separate upper division courses in any sport sciences curriculum.  These can be anything related to Kinesiology/Sport Science (e.g.: Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Sport Psychology, Sport Sociology, Sport History, Sport Philosophy, Strength and Conditioning, Motor Learning, etc).  Students should select these undergraduate courses in areas that correspond to the Advanced Study graduate courses listed in the Sample Study plans for which they are most interested.

These prerequisite courses do not need to be taken at CSUF.  We will consider courses taken at other accredited institutions (including on-line courses) with coursework offered at the upper division level (for all requirements other than Human Anatomy and Physiology). If however an applicant wishes to take these pre-requisite courses at Fullerton, registration is available through the Extended Education programOpens in new window  on our campus for this purpose.
