Activity Facilities
The Kinesiology building has several facilities that support instruction and recreational activities at CSUF. These facilities include fields, fitness lab, gymnasium, pool, and racquetball/tennis courts.
KHS Facility Use
For instructional purposes, the Department of Kinesiology offers several academic courses using each of the facilities to both teach the rules of the respective games and facilitate competition in a controlled environment. For registration, students are referred to the CSUF class schedule for the dates and times of Kinesiology sponsored activity courses. For recreational purposes, AS Rec Sports has available times for open play. For open play, students and faculty/staff are referred AS Rec Sports for available dates and times.
New KHS Building
After 10 years of hoping and planning, the “PE Building Addition” is finally a reality. Construction was completed in July 2003 and the building addition opened in time for the Fall 2003 semester. The new addition adds 71,000 square feet to the entire building which has subsequently been renamed the “Kinesiology and Health Science Building.” The added space includes a 125-seat Lecture Hall, two 60-seat Classrooms, numerous research and teaching laboratories (Motor Behavior Lab, Sport Psych/Biofeedback Lab, Exercise Physiology Lab, Fitness Assessment Lab, Exercise Science Teaching Lab, and Biomechanics Lab), the 5,000 square foot Lifespan Wellness Center (which provides a workout facility for CSF students and participants in the Employee Wellness Program and the Senior Fitness Program), the Center for Successful Aging, two Group Exercise rooms, and a Multipurpose Gymnasium. The addition also includes the new Division of Kinesiology and Health Science main office complex, and 42 faculty offices, which for the first time in over 20 years allows all of the KHS faculty to be housed in one building.
