| Kinesiology and Health Science Student Association Welcome to the Kinesiology and Health Science Student Association (KHSSA). The KHSSA exists to provide you with opportunities to interact with others students and with faculty at CSUF. The following objectives have been designed to ensure soundness and to benefit all members of the association. KHSSA: There are many benefits for our KHSSA members. Programs that are offered to members are Peer Mentor Program, Book Share, and Conference Funding. There is currently a $5 membership fee to join KHSSA. Our goal for the 2003-2004 school year is to get the KHS on the roll again. We hope to set up fund-raisers to maintain the organization by using the funds for newsletters and materials. | Constitution of Kinesiology and Health Science Student Association |
| California State University, Fullerton |
| The name of this organization shall be Kinesiology Graduate Association. The purpose of the Kinesiology Graduate Association is to provide students with opportunities to interact with each other and faculty at CSU Fullerton. To ensure the soundness of our purpose the following objectives have been designed to: |
| Create a comfortable environment for students to exchange ideas, skills and knowledge. |
| Create an opportunity for networking. |
| Encourage every member to have a voice and be heard. |
| Offer support and guidance to our peers. |
| Offer opportunities for leadership skills and public speaking. |
| Share relevant graduate and undergraduate experiences. |
| Expand our realm of references. |
| Experience diversity. |
| Create a sense of belonging. |
| Coordinate academic functions, seek out professionals who may be willing to speak and share their knowledge with our group. |
| Membership in this organization shall not be denied to any student at California State University, Fullerton on the basis of race, creed, religion, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, physical handicap or political affiliation. There shall be three types of membership in the organization: voting, associate and honorary. Voting membership is limited to regularly enrolled students (currently taking minimum of 3 units) at California State University, Fullerton with a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Any eligible CSU Fullerton student, faculty or staff member who completes and signs a membership application shall be a regular member upon filing an application with the club secretary. Any eligible non-CSU Fullerton student who completes a membership form shall be an associate member upon submitting a membership form with the club secretary. Any member giving outstanding service to the organization may be voted in for honorary membership. Any member may be suspended or expelled from the organization for conduct obviously contrary to the Constitution of the organization or for conduct which impairs the rights of the members to enjoy the benefits of the organization. The offense must be in writing and submitted to the organization, the offending member has the right to a 24 hour notice of a hearing before her/his peers at a regular meeting and the offending member may be suspended or expelled by a 2/3 affirmative vote of the voting members present. |
| Article III Officers |
| The elected officers of the organization shall be the Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary. |
| Powers and Duties of Officers: |
| Clause 1. The Chair shall preside at all meetings of the organization. She/He shall be the official spokesperson of the organization, representing the policies, views and opinions of the organization in its relations with the campus and community at large. She/He has further powers and duties as prescribed by the organization. |
| Clause 2. The Vice Chair presides at the organization meetings in the absence of the Chair. She/He performs all legal duties assigned by the Chair. She/He notifies all members of the organization meetings. |
| Clause 3. The Treasurer handles all financial affairs and budgeting of the organization. She/He maintains AS agency accounts in the organization’s name which requires signature of both the Treasurer and Chair All disbursements for more than $50 requires a majority vote approval of the organization. |
| Clause 4. The Secretary takes minutes at all meetings of the organization, files minutes and submits copies to all organization members. She/He is responsible for all organization correspondence and keeps copies of all correspondence on file. She/He acts as historian and maintains all records of the organization. |
| Officer Qualifications: |
| Clause 1. Must be a regularly enrolled student in good standing at CSU Fullerton. |
| Clause 2. Must be a voting member of the organization for one semester. |
| Clause 3. Must be carrying a minimum of 3 units a semester at CSU Fullerton and have a cumulative grade point average of no less than 3.0 |
| Petition |
| Petition by 1/2 of the total number of members is cause for a recall election. The offense must be stated in writing and submitted by a member. After the offense is submitted to the organization, the offending officer has 48 hours before the hearing. A recall election will be conducted as a "Special Election". Recall requires an affirmative vote of 2/3 of the total voting membership. |
| Officer unable to fulfill term |
| In the event an elected officer is unable to fulfill her/his term of office, there will be a "Special Election". Any eligible member, including those already holding office, can be nominated for a vacated office position. |
| Meetings |
| Regular meetings are scheduled at least bi-monthly during the academic year. |
| Special meetings are called by any elected officer or by 5% of the voting members of the organization. All members must be given a minimum of 48 hours (2 working days) prior to the Special Meeting time. |
| Business cannot be conducted unless a quorum of the membership is present. Quorum for this organization is defined as 51% of the voting membership. |
| Elections |
| Officers are elected once every academic year. Elections are held at the end of the spring semester. If for any reason an officer cannot hold her/his position for the full term a special election will be held as it is described under Officer unable to fulfill term |
| At least one week’s notice will be provided for any meeting at which an election is held. |
| Advisors |
| An individual employed by CSU Fullerton will serve as advisor to this organization. |
| The advisor(s) will serve a term of one academic year and is selected at the same time as the officers of the organization. |
| The advisor(s) may be removed by a 2/3 vote of the membership at a regularly scheduled organization meeting. |
| A staff member from the Office of Student Life or a School Based Assistant Dean may be assigned to work with this organization to assist the faculty advisor and the organization. |
| Dues |
| This organization can assess membership fees. Assessments are determined each semester or each academic year by a quorum of the membership at its regularly scheduled organization meeting. All money must be deposited into an A.S. Inc., Accounting Office agency account. The University does not recognize off campus bank accounts for student organizations at CSU Fullerton. |
| Method To Amend The Constitution |
| Proposed constitutional amendment or changes will be presented, in writing, to the organization one meeting before this amendment is voted on. |
| Approval by 2/3 of the voting members present at a regular organization meeting will pass this proposed amendment. The amendment is immediately effective unless otherwise stipulated in the proposal. |
| A copy of any amendment to this constitution must be filed in the Office |
| of Student Life at CSU Fullerton. |
| Disbursal of Organization Assets |
| In the event the Kinesiology Graduate Association should become defunct, all assets will be turned over to CSU Fullerton Associated Students, Inc., to be used to promote student programming on campus. However, if any assets can be used in the department of Kinesiology and Health Science to enhance students academic enrichment these assets will be donated to the department. |
| Rules of Order |
| The Kinesiology Graduate Association accepts "Roberts Rules of Order as its Rules of Order |
| Any issue not directly written in this document will be resolved by referring to the Rules of Order. |
