| Biosketch: |
Dr. Spiering received his Ph.D. while working in Dr. William Kraemer’s laboratory at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Spiering’s dissertation focused on the relationship between the endocrine system and muscle cell signaling responses to resistance exercise. After completing his doctoral studies, Dr. Spiering joined the Exercise Physiology and Countermeasures Project at NASA – Johnson Space Center where his research focused on protecting the health of astronauts during space exploration missions. Additional professional experiences include serving as a Sports Physiologist at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, managing the Human Performance Laboratory at Marywood University (PA), and interning with the New Orleans Saints strength & conditioning staff. |

Dr. Spiering’s research interests include strength & conditioning, physiology of resistance exercise, spaceflight physiology, and maintaining physical performance across a lifespan. |

Current Projects: |
Dr. Spiering’s current research focuses on strength & conditioning and resistance exercise physiology. Additionally, Dr. Spiering is currently collaborating with scientists at Johnson Space Center to examine physiological factors contributing to spaceflight-induced changes in functional performance. |
