| Biosketch: |
Dr. Archana McEligot is Associate Professor in Health Science, at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) and adjunct assistant professor at the University of California Irvine. Dr. McEligot’s primary research interests are in the field of epidemiology and specifically nutrition/nutrigenetics, behavior change and chronic disease epidemiology. Dr. McEligot has examined the association between modifiable risk factors such as nutritional status, circulating dietary concentrations and smoking with breast cancer risk and survival after breast cancer diagnosis. Dr. McEligot has published her work in several leading journals and has presented her work at National and International meetings. In addition, she has received research grants to support her funding and has been PI and/or co-PI on studies exceeding $2 million. Currently Dr. McEligot is PI on a Career Development award funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
Her other primary academic interests are teaching and advising students. Working with students and addressing challenging issues related to their research interests and educational endeavors is very rewarding for Dr. McEligot. |

| Current projects: |
Dr. McEligot is currently working on several projects including: (1) Assessing dietary intake of women diagnosed with breast cancer and examining the interaction between diet and genes on breast cancer risk (2) The effects of lifestyle factors including smoking, body mass index and alcohol use on breast cancer risk and survival (3) Dietary intake and dietary pattern in the Pacific Islander population. |
