The primary purpose of the national professional honorary, Eta Sigma Gamma, is to further the professional competence and dedication of individuals in the health science, health education, and public health professions.

The health science discipline is the process and product of assisting individuals, acting separately and collectively, to make informed decisions about matters affecting their personal health and that of others.  

The three basic elements that form the purpose of the national organization are: teaching, research, and service.  The lamp of learning unifies these elements; fore it is through the learning process that each purpose is achieved.

To guide our decisions and promote our profession, the Delta Rho Chapter objectives are to:

• Encourage scientific research
• Facilitate communication and discussion between individuals, agencies, and governmental jurisdictions through the exchange of practices and philosophies
• Recognize service and academic achievement
• Develop methods, materials, and programs
• Raise professional standards and ethics
