picture of Dr. RoseKoren Fisher, Ph.D, Associate Director

Dr. Fisher joined the faculty in the Department of Kinesiology in 2014.  She earned bachelor’s degrees in Physical Education (B.P.E.) and Education (B.Ed.) at the University of Calgary, during which time she also attained her Level 3 figure skating coaching qualifications through Skate Canada and the National Coaching Certification Program in Canada.  Dr. Fisher completed her M.Sc. degree in Kinesiology and Health Science at York University in Toronto, Ontario, where she specialized in fitness assessment and physiological monitoring in clinical, sport, and occupational environments.  She went on to earn her Ph.D. at the University of Saskatchewan, where she examined the longitudinal relationships between physical activity, functional fitness, and health services utilization in older adults. Throughout graduate school, Dr. Fisher also coached recreational and competitive figure skating skaters in Saskatchewan. 

Dr. Fisher is primarily interested in physical activity and sedentary behavior and their relationships with health, chronic disease risk factors, and health services utilization in community-dwelling older adults.  She hopes to extend her research to explore the effects of high intensity and functional training methods used in athletic populations on cardio-metabolic risk factors, quality of life, and health services utilization in older adults.

Dr. Daniela Rubin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology. She obtained her Teaching Degree in Physical Education in her home-country Argentina. She graduated at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a M.A. in Exercise and Sport Science in the Specialization of Exercise Physiology in 2001, and with a PhD in Human Movement Sciences in 2005. Dr. Kathleen Wilson comes to the Department of Kinesiology at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada.  At the University of Saskatchewan, Dr. Wilson completed a two year postdoctoral fellowship focusing on activity lapses in adolescents and parental influences. Prior to that, Dr. Wilson completed her MSc and PhD at the University of Saskatchewan.  Her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology was completed at the University of Calgary in Canada... Courtney Hall, PhD, PT, is a Research Health Scientist with the Atlanta VAMC Rehabilitation Research and Development Center of Excellence for Visual and Neural Rehabilitation and an Assistant Professor in the Division of Physical Therapy at Emory University. Peggy Trueblood, PhD, PT is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Physical Therapy at CSU, Fresno.  In addition to teaching since 1983, she conducts research in the area of balance and mobility disorders, particularly in neurological populations.  In addition, Dr. Trueblood has been conducting fall prevention screenings and intervention for underserved seniors in the central valley for the last 7 years. ...
