I always knew I wanted a career in the ‘Helping’ field. In 2005 this knowledge became crystal clear during my Communications, Public Relations Internship where I found myself writing media alerts and press releases regarding student’s experiences. It was then that I realized I wanted to be a part of helping students to shape, impact, and transform their lives. I realized later that my life’s career purpose was to be a Counselor.

Upon further reflection and introspective work on my academic, personal and professional paths, I knew that I had a lot of insight and inspiration to offer students who were exploring their academic, personal and professional pursuits. Having had the opportunity to attend both socioeconomically-challenged as well as socioeconomically-privileged high schools, I understand the struggles faced by underrepresented and under-served students. I am excited to help these students develop and create their professional image and self. I also have an affinity for adult re-entry students as I strongly admire their passion to recreate and redesign their professional paths.

My background includes almost 9 years of experience providing career, group and individual counseling as well as instruction services to diverse students, specializing in working with students with disabilities. I have also provided students with career counseling/job development services for a variety of career aspirations/backgrounds which include but are not limited to: engineering, computer science, chemistry, biology, public relations, administrative, accounting, medical, counseling, psychology, education, cosmetology, and many more!

My greatest passion is helping students and discussing their academic and career pursuits! I love collaborating with students as they begin to explore, establish, diversify and transcend their career goals. As an avid and engaged life-long student myself, with an unyielding desire to learn and grow further within the counseling profession, I am currently working towards my LPCC licensure to continue to increase my counseling depth, breath and experience. I hope to utilize this knowledge to further support the continued growth and success of my students!
