Debra Stout head shot

Debra Stout, Psy.D.

Many years ago I decided to leave a lucrative management career in the Southern California teen retail clothing industry to finish my education.  I earned a B.S. Degree from California State University Fullerton in Human Services, Cum Laude, and a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University.  I also earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at APU where I graduated with special recognition for my work with children and their families.  I completed my Pre-Doc and Post-Doc Internships for ultimate licensure as a Psychologist with the Orange County Health Care Agency, Children and Youth Services division. I spent over 6 years working for the Orange County Department of Education’s alcohol, tobacco and other drug use and violence prevention programs.  In that capacity, I coordinated a nationally acclaimed gang prevention and intervention program in conjunction with the Boys and Girls Club of Westminster.  When I am not teaching at CSUF, I run my own business, DoctorS Nonprofit Consulting, which I co-founded with my husband Dr. Dallas Stout in 2004.  As a consultant to the OC Department of Education, I assist in the development and current research of the O.C. Safe from the Start programs.  I have professionally demonstrated my experience and research interests at local, statewide, and International conferences including the International Conference on Violence, Abuse, and Trauma, as well as the Los Angeles County Psychological Association. I have also been interviewed on local T.V. and radio shows. My areas of interest include academic motivation, childhood trauma influence on brain development and child play therapy.
