The University of California, Irvine- Institute for Clinical and Translational Science received an award from the National Institutes of Health to establish the  Orange County Alliance for Community Health Research, OCACHR.

The purpose of the Alliance is to create an infrastructure in Orange County that will increase the capacity of community organizations and universities to engage in health research partnerships, also known as community-based participatory research.

CCC’s Role in OCACHR

As an OCACHR partner and subcontractor, California State University, Fullerton - Center for Community Collaboration (CCC) is responsible to:

  1. Recruit CSUF faculty mentors to both partner and advise OC community-based organizations to identify potential research projects
  2. Coordinate and Facilitate All CSUF Mentoring Activities
  3. Provide Support/Technical Assistance to both Faculty Mentors & CBOs
  4. Curriculum Development for Select Webinars and OCACHR Workshops
  5. Participate in OCACHR Planning Meetings
  6. Coordinate & Facilitate Evaluation Efforts for OCACHR Partners

The Alliance Provides Capacity Building Through the Following:

  1. Technical assistance, networking, training and mentoring opportunities between the universities and community based organizations
  2. Training in community-based participatory research to empower community agencies and university researchers to work together in developing and implementing research projects
  3. Lead team building workshops toward the development of an academic-community partnered health agenda and research projects
