Shelli Wynants has been teaching for the department since 1996, and joined the faculty as a full-time lecturer in 2001. Currently, she is serving as the Director of Online Education and Training in the Faculty Support Services unit in Academic Affairs.

She regularly works with students who want to serve as peer mentors for CAS courses (CAS 496: Tutorial) and students who wish to gain further research skills by working with her on current research projects (CAS 499: Independent Study). She serves on the University’s disABILITY Task Force, which has the goal of preparing professionals of all fields to include, work with, and support individuals with disabilities in school, community, and vocational environments.

Research Areas

Her past research has focused on media literacy, helping youth and parents learn to be more critical media consumers by deconstructing media messages and images. Her current research investigates best practice for online learning environments and professional development for faculty, including Universal Design for Learning.
