Executive President – Whitney Sasao

Hello, my name is Whitney Sasao! I'm a fourth-year student at CSUF with a major in Child and Adolescent Development and a concentration in the Elementary School Setting. I hope to become an elementary school teacher. I will be serving as the president of the Child and Adolescent Studies Student Association (CASSA) for the 2017-2018 academic year. I am also a student assistant, peer advisor, and peer mentor for the Department of Child and Adolescent Studies. I work as a student assistant in the Department of Study Abroad, and I will try to convince anyone I know into studying abroad! I am also involved in the Finish in Four Program and the Global Titan Leadership Program. Although it's hard to believe I have any free time, I love to surf and coach soccer. I also like to travel and explore new places. It is my passion to help our community become a better place through involvement in CASSA and the CSUF student population. I love to make a difference in not only the lives of children, but my peer’s lives as well. It is an honor to be this year’s CASSA President.

Hello Everyone! My name is Natalie Azurdia, and it is my honor to be serving on the CASSA Executive Board for a second year in a row. I will be your Vice President for the 2017-2018 academic year, and I could not be more excited. My role includes being in charge of the CASSA website and advertising all of our events including community service events, socials, and fundraisers. I am also in charge of the various donation drives we will be having throughout the year, as well as planning walks/runs for a cause. I am a fourth year Child and Adolescent Development major with an emphasis in the Family and Community Context. I plan to continue my education and obtain my Master’s Degree in Medical Social Work. During my free time, I love to hang out with friends, listen to music, and travel. I cannot wait to see what this year has in store, to meet new members, and to see returning members!

Hello everyone! My name is Luis Cordoba, and I have the incredible honor of serving as CASSA’s 2017-2018 Finance Manager. As Finance Manager, I will be in charge of overseeing CASSA’s funds and fundraisers. Some of our fundraisers include TV show tapings, Angel games, Breakfast/bake sales, and selling CASSA merchandise.  I am currently a senior at CSUF majoring in Sociology with an emphasis in Health and Social Welfare. After obtaining my Bachelor’s degree, I plan to pursue a Master’s degree in Social Work to become a Clinical Social Worker. On my free time, I enjoy a wide variety of things like cars, sports, movies, music, and hanging out with friends and family. I am excited to be this year’s CASSA Finance Manager, and I am looking forward to working with and getting to know all of you!

Hi CASSA! I am Jessica Inzunza, and I am so excited to serve as Information Manager for the 2017-2018 academic year! As Information Manager, I am in charge of taking minutes during board meetings and with everyone’s collaboration, putting together newsletters throughout the year. I am a Child and Adolescent Development major with an emphasis in Elementary School Settings along with a Chicano Studies minor. After I receive my Bachelor's, I want to go into the bilingual authorization multi-subject teaching credential program here at CSUF with the hope of someday becoming a bilingual elementary school teacher. I am a first generation college student, and I am interested in learning how I, a future teacher, can help other first generation students. A little bit about me: I love art, music, movies and above all, dogs. I am looking forward working with all of you in CASSA!

Hi CASSA. My name is Nicole Gongora, and I am excited to serve as your Membership Manager for the 2017-2018 academic year. My job includes keeping track of all of you, and making sure your hours are accounted for. I am a Child and Adolescent Development major following the adolescent youth track and a Math minor. I am currently a senior and will graduate in the Spring of 2018, after which I plan on receiving my teaching credential from San Diego State University. After graduating, I plan on teaching math at the either the middle school or high school level. A little about me, I love many things, particularly shoes, food, and Disneyland. I also like to go to concerts and see new movies. Since joining CASSA, I have had the opportunity to connect and network with other peers and faculty who share my interests, and I have been able to attend many informative conferences. CASSA has enhanced my college experience greatly, and I hope it does the same for you. I look forward to meeting you all.

Hello everyone! My name is Janet Hernandez and I am excited to be a part of the CASSA board for the 2017-2108 academic year. I will be one of the two Community Project Managers who will be responsible for contacting organizations to organize community service events. This will give members the opportunity to be involved in the community and volunteer their time to work with children and families. I am currently a senior majoring in Child and Adolescent Development with an emphasis in the Family and Community Context. After graduating from CSUF, I plan to attend graduate school to get my Masters in Social Work. I would like to work with foster and at risk children/youth. During my free time, I enjoy reading, watching Netflix, hiking, running, and traveling.

Hello CASSA! My name is Cynthia Zendejas, and I am honored to be one of your Community Projects Managers for the 2017-2018 academic school year! My role involves organizing community service events. I do this with the help of my partner Janet Hernandez by contacting organizations and giving members an opportunity to gain service hours. I am currently a fourth year Sociology student with a minor in Women Studies. My goal is to work in an Elementary School as a Speech Pathologist. A fun fact about me, is that I love to try new things! It does not matter what it is. It can be some food I have never had or going to a completely unknown location and exploring it! I love to do new things all the time!

Hola CASSA! My name is Christian Garcia, and I am your Departmental Awards and Activities Manager for the 2017-2018 academic year. I have the privilege of organizing this year’s socials, and co-planning the department’s Celebration of Achievement. I will also be updating our CASSA Bulletin Board once a month. This is where our members can find monthly information on events and opportunities. This is my Junior year at Cal State Fullerton. I am majoring Child & Adolescent Development and hoping to pursue a career in teaching. Being a part of CASSA is important to me because it contributes to my personal and professional growth. CASSA provides many opportunities to make a difference in children’s lives, and I strive for a career that does the same. As an Executive Board member of CASSA, I am excited to meet new people and provide opportunities for our members to do the same. Don’t miss out on my awesome, fun, and exciting socials! Hi everyone! My name is Manda Morrissey, and I am your 2017-2018 Professional and Career Development Manager. My responsibilities include organizing guest speakers and, informing members of job/internship opportunities, and conferences to attend. This is my second year at CSUF, and I will be graduating this Spring as a CHAD major. I hope to come back to CSUF for the Special Education Credential & Master’s Program so I can teach special education in an elementary school. In my free time, I love to travel, go on hikes, and cook. I am in CASSA because I love the involvement with peers and children to help benefit the community!

Interclub Council Representative – Melissa Viana

Hi CASSA! My name is Melissa Viana, and I am the 2017-2018 Inter-Club Council Representative as well as the Community College Liaison for CASSA. My responsibilities include requesting funds from the ICC Board on behalf of CASSA and informing other HHD student clubs of CASSA events. I also learn about what other clubs within the College of Health and Human Development are requesting funds for. In addition, I coordinate with the Child Development Club at Fullerton College and help build community with future Titans. This is my junior year, and I plan to graduate in the spring semester of  2019 with a major in Child and Adolescent Development. I joined CASSA because I truly felt that I would be happy making even the smallest difference in the lives of children in our community. In the future, I plan to work with infants and toddlers as an occupational therapist. I love traveling everywhere and anywhere, being immersed in different cultures, and I’m always looking for new adventures. I am excited to be a part a lovely group of individuals and cannot wait to see what this year holds for CASSA!
