International knowledge and cross-cultural communication skills are critical in today’s interconnected, global society. Your donation can help underrepresented students broaden their understanding of the world and cultures around them through a transformative experience overseas.
HHD’s study-away trips are two-week excursions filled with hands-on learning opportunities. Give today and help change a life!
Titans in Brazil May 2016
In this international service-learning experience, Kinesiology students gain hands-on experience in teaching sports skills, develop intercultural awareness and competence, and have an impact in the lives of children. They will develop and implement short-term sport interventions at a high school in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The school serves as a hub for sport and culture for the surrounding underserved communities. Our students will also participate in community outreach efforts that use sport as a tool for social change. Watch a video on the 2015 trip.
Titans in Greece June 2016
Kinesiology majors will study the history and philosophy of the Olympics and the cultural origins of sport and physical activity in the birthplace of their field. Students will discuss philosophy in the shadow of the Agora in Athens where ancient philosophers gathered more than two centuries years ago. They will examine the history of the Olympic games amidst the ruins of the Stadium of Olympia. Trips to Delphi and Nemea are also planned.
