Centers

Center for the Advancement of Responsible Youth Sports
In collaboration with parents, physicians, teachers, and coaches, promotes positive and developmentally appropriate sport and physical activity programs for youth populations. Activities include research, evaluation, and dissemination of information through workshops, seminars, and clinics.

Center for Autism: Applied Developmental Core
The CSUF Center for Autism is dedicated to research, education, and service in autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The mission of the Applied Developmental Core is to understand developmental processes in autism and to promote competence and wellbeing in children with ASD and their families. Major emphases of both our Core and the larger Center include research, empirically-based practice, and the application of research findings to assessment, advocacy, intervention, and professional training.

Center for Boys and Men
The Center for Boys and Men positions itself as a proactive resource in bettering the lives of boys and men. Through scholarship, community education and collaboration, and direct consultation, the Center endeavors to establish an environment where the health needs of boys and men are paramount.

Center for Cancer Disparities Research
Promotes scholarship and creative activities to improve the cancer-related health and wellbeing of ethnic minority and other medically-underserved populations in Orange County.

Center for Community Collaboration
Supports applied scholarship, collaborative research, and dissemination of knowledge regarding the status, needs, and strengths of the community, particularly related to serving children, youth, and families.

Employee Wellness Program
The Employee Wellness Program, centered around the promotion of physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices, is operated by the Division of Kinesiology and Health Science (KHS). The program provides CSF faculty and staff an opportunity to participate in exercise classes and provides information for improving one’s wellness.  The program also provides on-campus internship opportunities for students who are pursing careers in health and fitness.

Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain Center
The mission of the center is to advance research, education, and professional practice related to fibromyalgia (FM) and overlapping conditions. The Center’s philosophy is based on an integrated approach to symptom management, including  psycho-social & cognitive-behavioral strategies, stress management, physical activity interventions, balance and mobility training, nutrition & weight management, acupuncture & manual therapies, and pharmacological therapies.

Center for the Promotion of Healthy Lifestyles and Obesity Prevention
Supports interdisciplinary research and works with schools and other community groups to address issues of health promotion and the prevention of obesity in children.

Center for Sport Performance
To conduct, present and publish research and engage in consultations specifically related to improvement of sports performance through application of the sub-disciplines of Kinesiology.

Center for Successful Aging
Through its educational, research and service activities, The Center for Successful Aging has as its mission the promotion of health, vitality and well-being in later years. The center has four distinct programs: Senior Fitness, Balance and Mobility, Health Promotion for Older Adults, and Outdoor Explorations.

Fall Prevention Center of Excellence (Partner)
The Center for Successful Aging at Cal State Fullerton is part of a multi-center initiative, along with the Andrus Gerontology Center at USC, the Geriatric Research Education Clinical Center of the greater Los Angeles VA, and the California Department of Health, to develop a state-wide infrastructure for services and programs designed to reduce falls in Older Californians.

Institutes

Health Promotion Research Institute
The Health Promotion Research Institute (HPRI) serves as a catalyst and focal point for research, training, and community interchange to develop and disseminate evidence-based information and health promotion programs.

Sport and Movement Institute
Promotes research, creative activity, and services related to sport, physical activity, and fitness. Activities include evaluation and consultation services, outreach programs, and communication and dissemination of scholarly information through workshops, clinics, and seminars.

Special Services

Partnership with Social Services Agency
Our Human Services and Counseling programs have collaborated with the Social Services Agency of Orange County and Cypress College to offer employees opportunities to advance their educational objectives.

Professional Development / Fieldwork Office
Our Fieldwork and Community-based Learning Center provides opportunities for H&HD students to gain experience in the field of work through internships or volunteer positions. Our students serve over 200 agencies in Orange County.
