Dr. James L. Rodríguez is a professor of Child and Adolescent Studies at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). He currently serves as the Faculty Athletics Representative and has recently held appointments as Interim Assistant Vice President of Institutional Research and Analytical Studies and Interim Associate Vice President for Student Affairs. At CSUF, Dr. Rodríguez serves or has served on numerous boards and committees including the Strategic Enrollment Planning Committee, the WASC Interim Report Committee, the Strategic Plan Workgroup 2, the Student Success Steering Committee, the Closing the Gap Task Force, the HACU Student Success Collaborative, and as faculty co-chair of the Graduation Initiative Committee. Prior to his appointment at CSUF, Dr. Rodríguez was an associate professor of education at San Diego State University. He has also held appointments as a Visiting Scholar at Pomona College and at Educational Testing Service. In addition, he is a founding member and inaugural chair of the Latino Caucus of the Society for Research in Child Development, has served as a review panel chair for the Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowships, has been an expert advisor and consultant for the California Department of Education, and has served on various journal editorial boards including Child Development, the Journal of Research on Adolescence, and the Association of Mexican American Educators Journal. He has published widely on the psychological development and education of ethnic minority populations in the United States, with an emphasis on immigrants and English learners. Dr. Rodríguez received a B.A. in psychology from Pomona College and a Ph.D. in education with a specialization in child and adolescent development from Stanford University.
